So you're not porting anything, you're just moving them to a new HD, assuming you're even using a new machine for the server.
You need to work on your reading comprehension, I never stated a map hadn't, just that it could be which is foolish, like if it weren't for this banner rule you could just copy the maps over to the new machine in less than a hour and call it a day, instead they need to be recompiled and repacked.
Getting a bit pedantic about wording here jesus - porting/moving to a new HD same shit different smell.
How could it be? we are using it as an opportunity to fix a lot of broke things with a lot of maps and its not just the map banner that needs to be changed its a lot of other sprays and shit as we are rebranding away from DS? if we werent rebranding away from DS we can just move it across and then not fix maps too! but we are deciding based on feedback that a lot of people gave we are fixing maps bugs that people have found as well as with the rebrand.
So they were going to get recompiled and repacked anyways.
And when a new map is getting added onto the server we have to recompile and repack it onto the server anyways as well so we add the map banner if the map maker hasnt already done so. Not that hard Lol
It's hardly pedantic, I've never once seen port be used for just transfering a file to another HD, which takes only a couple of minutes per map.
Sure if you're going to modify the map anyways adding a banner doesn't add more than an hour or so to the time, I didn't say not to add the banner, I said making it a requirement is just a foolish rule.
Why does a new map need to be recompiled exactly?
