This is an issue when we switched over to openid accounts. But it doesn't restrict you from doing anything. The only reason to not merge all accounts is just simply that it has to be done at the backend which would be time-consuming to do for all 626 members and have little benefit, other than those with staff permissions.
But there is currently a suggestions forums within the Development group. Stuff can usually be sorted there and / or with the relevant SME on discord.
