Everything is camouflaged in subtropical with green bushes everywhere, I feel like there's at least one map game on that map that has never been played ever. And caye is a map where you can get lost so easily. Maps should really just calm down with detail so people know where everything is. Like revolution or Wazza. Even if people might not like those maps it's still very playable.
I mean, the reason those maps are so bare is because they were made many years ago and are historic to the community.
Mapping standards for the community (especially DS) have changed, porting a CSGO-source map could easily take ~10 hours, whereas making a new map takes around ~300 hours (from my experience on making jb_desertstorm and jb_tundra).
If you want better maps, lower the mapping requirements for detailing and there would easily be 3+ new maps by the year end. New maps have to be detailed to have a chance to be accepted, even some maps don't get accepted with detailed environments (eg. https://gamebanana.com/mods/79497 and https://gamebanana.com/mods/79458).
That being said, would like to see more maps making custom FF areas, jb_desertstorm's was such fun to make and really brings out a map.
