Why were you banned?: Massying after Massyween due to a misunderstanding.
Why should you be unbanned?: As this is bigger than I expected, let me note this isn't a troll and I don't put this much effort into anything unless I believe that there is something fundamentally wrong. I criticise using the court of public opinion so I urge the people reading this to take as my opinion, a player of DS not an ex-operator, and my opinion alone regardless of the comments left by people.
I personally think this Ban is complete and utter rubbish and makes this current staff team look extremely terrible. I believe that the leadership have for what ever reason given into the trolls of the community who made a ban request against badank. I personally +1'd the request because of how extremely ridiculous it sounded. I can personally guarantee you that 90% of the people on the threads were memeing or just don't really care what the outcome is.
1) As a community rule staff members should NEVER receive the same degree of punishment as a player. Staff Members should not issue player punishments upon other staff members regardless of the situation. Situation A) Badank is mic spamming, Badanks senior will talk to him about this and let him know if his actions continue he will face demotion / removal from staff, not a mute on the server. Situation B) Badank has freekilled someone on the server on accident, out of respect a staff member tells Badank what has happened and Badank will slay himself and the player respawned. Situation C) Badank has mass freekilled on the server, he is first removed from staff and then ct banned. Never in my history of Running / Staffing and community have I seen a staff member receive a punishment as severe as this and I personally think it is extremely unjust.
2) I think that this ban has shown an extreme flaw within the Leadership of DS. This request should of been dealt with by the operators and the operators alone. I firmly believe that any previous operator team of DS would of made the choice to talk to badank about it how ever not punish him. I know for a fact that something like this should be dealt with inside the staff ranks and punishment guidelines and not in the court of public opinion. I believe that the way this was dealt with due to the amount of players voicing issue of it and not the actual case against badank. I see this as the Higher staff members having no back bone what so ever when it comes to decisions that affect the staff team. At the moment the leadership criticise the mods for having 0 back bone when it comes to dealing with ex-staff members. How ever, how do you think the staff team feels knowing that if something like this happens to them their own staff members don't even have their back with arguably one of the best staff members in the team at the moment. Summarising it up bluntly, you shouldn't of let the playerbase grab you by the balls and give badank a ban, its ridiculous. I would of stood as a team and put our foot down stating you had made your decision and that it was final that badank wouldn't be punished for an innocent mistake. And if players questioned it, who cares. You have run arguably the most successful JB server in the history of AUS JB and every step of the way you have faced criticism about multiple things.
3) One of the things Onionz and Chiswell had pointed out an issue with the current junior staff team is the inability to use discretion where necessary. For example we see two ends of the spectrums in terms of the way gada's suggestion / overall notice of how mic spamming has been handled by the junior team. A fundamental thing about Jailbreak has always been spamming / banter / screaming etc so it is critical that in those funny moments this is allowed to happen. The way the Junior staff perceived this new perspective completely transpired into them letting godly amounts of people ear rape on the server. The idea of the mic spamming is besides the point, it's the use of discretion here which is the topic of debate in this scenario. You preach the idea of teaching the Junior staff members how to use discretion to maximise the potential utility of fun on the server, yet it seems discretion has been thrown out the window here. We all know that what Badank did was a clear mistake and that he is genuinely sorry and cannot apologise enough, like he can't it was a full on honest mistake. If there was ever a time to instil faith in your staff team it would have been now. At the moment the staff team is facing the most intense scrutiny and criticism it has ever faced especially towards the administrating and handling of Gean, Pods, (formally) Arrow and Uncle Rifle. I am not going to sling mud in saying that these staff members have extreme cases of where discretion has been looked at too lightly (which I easily can), the staff team is still suppose to be a team. And in a time where the staff members want to leave the staff team due to its criticism and current demands they need to know that their leadership will have their back in ridiculous claims like this.
4) Badank is currently one of the best staff members on the server. He has been on my personal radar for a while for promotion to Head Admin if there ever was a spot to be open. His strengths include discretion, activeness, mentoring and admining skills. The Skills that he has to develop which members like Onionz, Magics, Jas and Chiswell could coach him to work on is at the exact same level which I think Boink and Big Ducky are at the moment. He still lacks that ability to be able to make a decision and firmly stick with it through tough criticism. How ever at the moment I feel like the operator team is too weak to be able to pass on this type of admining style to him as they don't possess it themselves. I know I am on a tangent about general observations unrelated to this ban, but what I mean to insinuate is that I put badank on a pedistool on the same level as a lot of the leadership team here in DS. I believe that by doing this you are spitting in the face of one of your most loyal staff members I cannot fathom how much work badank has put into trying to help what is left of the junior staff team. The only people realistically putting an effective type of effort to help the mods are: Chiswell, Badank, Luck, Slicer, T-Songy, MattTheCat Panda and Krispy. Which is not much at all. I know that by handing Badank this punishment it has with out a doubt made him feel down about his position (Whether he has admitted it or not), and I also think that the staff team would view this as incredibly extreme.
I really hope you read the whole thing. I said this as I believe that badank is one of the crucial staff members along with a select few under Magics's leadership where they can turn the server from the point at the moment where it is shit to play on how ever still gets numbers on the server. Transforming it into something worth while playing, not just a high player count.
