Yes jug is strong but when no one wants to ct or if the ct are just duds sometimes jug gives ct a chance to play a round without constant rebellers: also no jugernaught is not new and was removed before for being to overpowered the only reason it was brought back was for a quick buck being resricted to the non monthly vips, heck its not even listed in the donator perks for some reason, showing just how little thought was put into its reintroduction If the entire server could nominate then it would be no rare maps and everyone just fighting over nominations. also also no? you say this like rare maps are actually played often on the server? a quick check shows that 17% of the maps represent 50% of the servers playtime RE: List of annoying things on Jailbreak. - Jas8621 - 30-07-2021 (29-07-2021, 05:41 PM)h0wLze. Wrote: Here's some shit I've seen on the server that is annoying and unfair. Overall this post makes alot of good posts and ill give you the time of day to give you my experienced response from my perspective on how AUS JB has evolved as both a player and long serving staff member. 1. Admins respawning other staff members isn't a thing or at least SHOULDN'T be a thing. this is clear favouritism and if this is truly what is going on then it is on us as the higher staff team to deal with this. having had more time personally to be on the server of late I have seen what I would call potentially un-needed respawns but from my experience they were not limited to other staff members but any T's who joined the server just after cells opened in an effort to allow them to play in a round that they would otherwise have to wait upwards of 5+ mins to join on the next available round. 2. I am in agreeance that our current VIP has gotten particularly Overpowered especially on the CT side. It seems like alot of the powers given to T's are restricted to one time per map uses such as firewarrior and tasers/smokes ect. Whereas JUGG, spawnable guns and healthshots are unlimited uses which does lead to uninteresting and boring gameplay as this does in the right hands lead to a single VIP player crushing many of the T's potential rebel options by simply being on a map. This problem is exacerbated when multiple VIPs join forces to control a server. I can say we are looking at changes to our current VIP model and powers in the next community I know that it is a concern we are aware of and would like to help make more balanced moving forwards. 3. This is an unfortunate effect of the emote mod as it is currently made. Personally I wouldn't allow this if I saw it on the server but I'm not even sure if the staff team has got a definite ruling on this case. Ill look into this so we can decide how to work on this. 4. nominate is an interesting function. It used to be a universal command without limitation. It ended up with 3 maps on rotation almost permanently even in older variations of this community. It led to people being unhappy with the maps being played so we scrapped the command. Then we started to see that without the command the playerbase would just leave if certain maps on the permanent rotation came on and rejoin when a more popular map came on. So our current working version is a mix allowing some players who care for the command to have access but not every man and their dog spamming the same 3/4 maps every single map. This is a working problem so any suggestions that haven't been tried are welcome. 5. This is a never ending problem unfortunately. Being a gamemode that now spans over a Decade old the rules have been added to, removed changed and adapted even lost to time for a portion makes it a difficult thing to moderate. there are "Hundreds" of rules that have been in effect from one time to another. Writing them all down is an endless task that no man could comprehensively complete and even if they could would not be in a format that would be presentable to a first time player trying to gain an understanding of the game-mode. Compounding this problem is that every staff member and Player in the community no matter their understanding of the written rules will have a different ideal for the way "Jailbreak" is to be played. I know you and I Howlze have had our differences in the past but I do try to be fair and understanding especially in my current approach to staffing. Overall there is no perfect way to both list every scenario possible and have a concise and readable rules list which is approachable to newer players of the community. 6. I agree Trusted should be able to do more, BUT it's a balancing act of responsibility as Trusted players are not expected to be staff and so are not trained like staff and so are not given the responsibilities of staff. The more power we give them the more responsibility we must give them and training to be impartial and represent the community which would ruin the purpose of trusted vs staff. 7. This has been responded to by Kiwi already but staff aren't Robots there will be gaps in thier knowledge especially the less experienced MODS. We try to train them the best we can but either we have a smaller staff team who is trained more extensively which has its downsides like not haveing enough staff to be on the server (already have this issue atm) or too many staff who are not trained enough to properly deal with the situations at hand (Still kinda have this issue *Shrug*) Also remember that Staff is volenteer work we are not paid and even those who are training for many is thier first time having to do this and many have no real world experience doing this so mistakes will be made. 8. This is on the list of fixes for the next community we asked for community feedback on maps and improvements to be made. You bet this made it on the list. 9. This ruling changes as the community does. These used to be examples of fun community led games that was fun for all involved. Then trolls took it over and started to abuse it for free easy kills and nazi behaviour. It led to the staff being forced to shut it down entirely and ban the game outright same as simon says. We decided that hopefully the community can be trusted under the supervision of staff members to ensure players aren't ruining a potentially fun game. 10. Again sorry we don't have staff to be online 24/7 I'm personally taking my time in lockdown to try and do my part to help with this problem but we do honestly try to deal with players who are being malicious but we do need help in acquiring evidence and the ban req are the most efficient ways for us to review clips and form a decision. TLDR: Good points many we are aware of and trying to improve but we aren't perfect. Basically what Jas said, all points are fair - theres some frustrating elements of DS and it seems like certain things might be in limbo but i can assure you with the rebrand and the new community, it is allowing us to take a step back and overlook certain things that are currently status quo and make changes for hopefully the better and add a fresh feel to JB and the community. We did have a map feedback report on the portal and have correlated it to make changes to apply to the new community as we have to port the maps and change the map banners and other banners anyways so 2 birds one stone. With point number 5. as Jas said its impossible to be able to write down ALL the specific ruling for specific situations as the rules would be endless but we also cant just write blanket rules to cover a whole basis of situations as it can be misinterpreted - however we are looking at a staff level to correlate all the rulings made on situations in the past and even clarify on some now and have it be in one spot to have a consistency of rule knowledge across all staff - same with certain procedure changes we have made in the past couple of weeks. Overall there is a lot that will hopefully be 'fixed' and not as frustrating or annoying in the new community rebrand. RE: List of annoying things on Jailbreak. - ZoNiCaL - 31-07-2021 +1. I don't play Jailbreak much anymore, only popping in once every month or so. Every time that I've played it recently, it felt really barren with a lack of competent staff and essentially PTW mechanics such as Jugg spam. Relating to my comment about staff, it's true that the team isn't like what it was a year-ish ago when I was on the team. There were around double the number of staff members with varying to lots of experience and there would be around 5 on every night I played. As things started happening over time, the "old guard" as I call them, started leaving the team for one reason or another (rip both of my trials ), with only a small handful of staff that I visibly remember remaining. As Jas said: Quote:Staff is volenteer work we are not paid and even those who are training for many is thier first time having to do this and many have no real world experience doing this so mistakes will be made. I trust that Anthonyy, Magics, boink, Chiswell and the rest of the senior team know what they're doing with this rebrand, and I'm interested to see how it will go. Just use MCE and group maps into "underplayed" and "overplayed" and have a shared CD of 1 for the map group so you're forced to swap between an underplayed or overplayed map or increase the CD for overplayed maps or just remove the ability to nominate overplayed maps and only underplayed maps can be nominated, making it VIP doesn't solve the problem whatsoever. Port the maps, are you moving to Source or something, why would you need to port maps? The map banner is totally unnecessary, seems ridiculous not to add a decent map because no one can be bothered to add a shitty banner. So you're not porting anything, you're just moving them to a new HD, assuming you're even using a new machine for the server. You need to work on your reading comprehension, I never stated a map hadn't, just that it could be which is foolish, like if it weren't for this banner rule you could just copy the maps over to the new machine in less than a hour and call it a day, instead they need to be recompiled and repacked. Getting a bit pedantic about wording here jesus - porting/moving to a new HD same shit different smell. How could it be? we are using it as an opportunity to fix a lot of broke things with a lot of maps and its not just the map banner that needs to be changed its a lot of other sprays and shit as we are rebranding away from DS? if we werent rebranding away from DS we can just move it across and then not fix maps too! but we are deciding based on feedback that a lot of people gave we are fixing maps bugs that people have found as well as with the rebrand. So they were going to get recompiled and repacked anyways. And when a new map is getting added onto the server we have to recompile and repack it onto the server anyways as well so we add the map banner if the map maker hasnt already done so. Not that hard Lol |
