Minimum CT hour requirement - music - 30-08-2021

Hello people of JB,
As a lot of people have expressed once before, I thought I'd bring the subject back up for discussion.

We should increase the required hours played on the server to play as a CT. As much as we "love" new players on the server there are tons of DUD's who play as CT with very few hours.

10 hours is barely anything, I remember the first time I played the server I got my 10 hours, played as a CT, and got absolutely r*ped by people on T as I didn't know the rules well enough / wasn't competent to warden. After playing for more time and learning the rules and ways of the server I began to become a better CT. But as stated before, 10 hours is simply not enough to be on CT. Surely we raise it to something between 20 - 30 hours as it enforces the players who are new to play the server a few times instead of being on one day, of mindless playing. It also prevents them from playing for some time, leaving their computer running for a day and then coming back to be able to play as the CT.

TLDR; Increase the hours required from CT from 10 to at least 20 - 30 hours.

Only way CTs can learn not to be duds is through gaining experience playing on CT. Watching how other CTs play can only get you so far. Increasing it from 10 to 20/30 would only discourage these wannabe CTs from learning how to properly play the team.

The required '10 hour' rule was a knee jerk requirement by the admins when CS:GO became free to avoid server hating smurfs (fake accounts) from doing mass freekills after mass freekills, which was previously protected by the cost of the game.

I would argue the opposite and believe decreasing it to '0' would be a better option.
  • The current limit of 10 hours, turns experience wardens/guards from other servers away as they don't want to play through 10 hours of there less preferred position as a prisoner.
  • A focus of the server not having enemies by having sensible admins to avoid 'server enemies' in the first place would be better then a knee jerk reaction.
  • Players need to learn, as Matt The Cat has said, and the best way is experience through doing it.

Increasing it to 20/30 hours would kill the server, I don't see dud new players on CT as a big issue, it's nice to have some new life on the server. Also some people are able to pick up the basics of JB faster than others, ruining their experience having to play 30h of T.

i agree that players need to learn and etc, but making it 0 hours would cause more chaos than I believe it would bring solutions,
• Players with no experience would join CT and most likely continuously get slayed / swapped for breaking rules, and or not know what to do wasting spots and being harassed by other players causing them to leave.
• Alt accounts to throw away for massy's and or ban evading would become more prominent in my opinion, *not saying that the staff team arent doing a good job.*
• While it's great for them to play CT to learn, they should also watch other CTs and see how they conduct while playing as T, to get an understanding of how it works and some rules along the way.

RE: Minimum CT hour requirement - chiswell - 30-08-2021

10 Hours is plenty of hours to allow players to learn our playstyle and rule set - anymore than that and it would discourage players from keeping on playing the server because T can be really boring and a lot of newbies want to learn to be a guard - Dud CTs has always been a thing and us as staff encourage them to learn the rules if they are new and learn to get better, 20-30 hours is so much, seeing as 30 mins is a map they have to play 40-60 maps, where as with the 10 hours its 20 maps much less, I never knew how to warden and I just learnt by doing - i made some mistakes but then learnt from it.
